Not everything can be perfect!

Hi!
I wrote in a previous post that Brooke, my partner, and I would be shooting Today. Unfortunately, Brooke's dad needed his camera equipment for a job. We needed Brooke's dad's camera and backdrop for our shoot but we could no longer use it because he needed it for his clients. We are now planning to have our magazine shoot sometime this week and I decided that Hailey will have many outfit changes, since I cannot decide on what active wear I want her to be wearing in the shoot. I will also have her pose in different ways and take the shots at different angles. I do know for sure that I want the backdrop to be black. I know taking multiple pictures will allow me to have a variety of shots to choose from and I won't have to worry about having another shoot. I plan on having her try on the outfits before hand so we know exactly what looks right. I know that Brooke is also planning for her shoot because I told her I would help her do her models makeup so it is perfect for the shoot and for her cover. I know we had a setback but it just gives us more time to make sure our shoot is everything we plan and want it to be. I cannot wait to take pictures for the cover and I plan on videoing what is happening behind the scenes.

I will be back soon to share our shoot with you!

The Outfits

Hey welcome back!

My last post talked about the setting of my blog, and I definitely know that I want the background to be a backdrop. As I was thinking about the cover, I began thinking about how crucial Hailey's outfit is. Fashion is so important and that alone can catch a reader's attention. At first, I thought Hailey would wear all white, but now I am slowly beginning to change my mind. Nowadays, everywhere you look in fashion magazines and in stores you see active wear being advertised, most of the clothing is very colorful and is shown in many vibrant patterns. That made me begin thinking that maybe wearing all white active wear is not the way to go. I went to Hailey's house as soon as I began thinking about the outfit she would wear on the cover, we went through all the active wear she owned, but I still have not made a decision. I consider this a really important detail in the making of my magazine and I want it to be perfect. We plan on going to Dick's sporting goods this week to look at some of the trendy active wear being sold. I uploaded pictures of  Hailey's workout clothing so you could see some of our options. I will let you know what I choose!

The Setting

Hello guys!

I have to say, I never realized how many details went into planning on magazine cover. This past week I have been brainstorming ideas about where my photoshoot for my magazine cover should be. At first, I wanted the of the setting of the cover to be outside on a day with sunlight, I pictured our model, Hailey, running in bright colored active wear on a track. I had in mind a shot of her mid running because I thought this cover photo would attract women that are on the look out for health tips. While I was brain storming, Brooke brought to my attention that her dad owns a back drop that we could borrow for our photoshoots, this changed my whole idea on what I wanted my cover to be. Now I picture a black back drop with Hailey standing in the center in a white sports bra and white leggings, looking straight at the camera, an empowering stance. I told Brooke my idea, and she also really liked it. I love this idea because I feel that Hailey wearing all white on a black backdrop will be a great contrast of color which will get reader's attention I also feel an empowering image of a woman will also help me get more readers. I went on Pinterest to look at more ideas and came across this page ( click here to see what I am referring to!). This page gave me more of a visual and allowed me to even further think about my cover. I am very happy about my idea and can't wait for it to become alive on paper!

See you back here soon!

Welcome back to my blog!

I am excited to share that Brooke and I have officially began the designing process for the layout of our magazine, Better You, which we plan on having centered in a big bold black font. We want our title to catch our readers attention and I think a bold font will do the best job attracting readers. I am very happy to announce that Brooke and I made a plan for next weekend to have a photo shoot with our model, Hailey, we plan on making her our cover girl. We are very lucky because Brooke's dad is a professional photographer and will help us get our perfect shot for the cover of our magazines. I plan on having Hailey wear a white sports bra and white leggings on a black back drop, I feel that the contrast of colors will look amazing. My idea is to have her demonstrate workout moves for my article. I got this idea while looking at fitness magazines (click here to see the article I got my inspiration from). I can't wait to photograph her already because I want my idea's to become a reality! I can't wait for you guys to see our shoot. My next post will be a video behind the scenes at our shoot and you can see all the details that went into the photographing for our magazine.

Creating A Title

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to my blog!

I am so happy to tell you guys that Brooke and I have come up with a title for our magazine. Before I share the title, I have to admit that it was not an easy decision. Who knew that deciding a magazine cover would be so hard? I did not realize how much thought went into a few simple words. Brooke and I did not agree at all at first on a title, I wanted a small short broad title and Brooke wanted a longer title. I had the liked the title "SELF" and she had the idea of naming the magazine "Striving For A Better You;" don't get me wrong, I very much respect all Brooke's ideas but I had in mind a short title that would be easy for readers to remember. After 30 minutes of going back and forth with names of titles, we decided on the title "Better You". We met in the middle and Brooke agreed on a shorter title and I used her wording "Better You," just shortened. I actually think that our title is a perfect fit for what we want our magazine to be about: health and beauty tips that would better women. I honestly believe this title suits our ideas very well. Now that we got our title, Brooke and I are going to begin brainstorming a layout for our magazine cover and pick out colors and fonts that will catch our readers attentions. I am so excited to start our visuals and cannot wait for my ideas to become a reality. I am going to attach a link below to a website I find helpful in planning of our magazine cover.

Until next time!

Welcome To My First Blog Post

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my first blog post!

My blog posts will allow you to see first hand my thought process in every decision I make for my magazine. You will be able to see how my ideas develop through planning and research. So lets get to the first exciting news! I am very happy to share with you all that my partner, Brooke, and I made our first major decision for our magazine today. We decided on the genre of our magazine: Woman's Health and Lifestyle. This was a very easy decision that we were able to make quickly because we are both very passionate about this topic... I love health and fitness and Brooke loves giving beauty advice, so we make the perfect match! Brooke and I knew that our target audience is young woman since we will be writing about health and beauty tips. We shortly began looking for ideas for our magazine cover, title, and article topics by researching on the internet and I soon came across this website that gave me inspiration and helped me brainstorm ideas for our magazine (click here to see what I am referring to). Viewing these Woman Health and Lifestyle magazines was extremely helpful because it gave Brooke and I a visual to help us soon begin the designing process of our cover. I am going to attach my favorite  magazines covers from the site below so you can see exactly what I am talking about! Read our next post to see the title we decide on.

See you guys soon!
